Prayagraj (formerly Allahabad) is where the Ganga, Yamuna, and the mythical Saraswati meet at Triveni Sangam. Hindus come for Sangam snan (holy bath), boat rides to the confluence, Kumbh Mela, and ancestral rites such as Asthi Visarjan, Pind Daan, and tarpan. From Varanasi it is a short drive. We arrange an English- or Hindi-speaking coordinator, a safe boat, and a Vedic priest so international families understand every step.
Asthi Visarjan at the Sangam means immersing the ashes of a loved one at the confluence. Pind Daan and tarpan are offerings for ancestors. We book the boat to the meeting point of the rivers, the priest, and all puja materials so the family can focus on the ritual, not on finding a boatman.
A same-day trip from Varanasi is about 2.5–3 hours each way. Many guests add Hanuman Temple (the reclining Hanuman) and a short city stop. During Magh Mela and Kumbh Mela the crowds are enormous — book stay, snan-day timing, and transport months ahead.
A complete pitru (ancestral) journey often combines Prayagraj Sangam with Asthi Visarjan in Varanasi and Pind Daan in Gaya. One coordinator, one itinerary, priests at each place.
What you will do at Triveni Sangam
A typical visit: cab from Varanasi, boat from the ghat to the visible meeting of the Ganga and Yamuna, snan if you wish, then rites if booked.
The water is a working river — we use a proper boat and a clear return point. Photography is common on the boat; during a ritual the priest will tell you when to pause.
Foreign visitors often watch first, then join tarpan if the family wants everyone present.
Asthi Visarjan and Pind Daan at the Sangam
Bring the sealed asthi kalash if you are immersing ashes. The priest performs mantras and tarpan, then immersion at the confluence. Pind Daan uses rice balls and offerings for ancestors.
These rites are complete at Prayagraj. Many families still add Varanasi ghat rites or Gaya Pind Daan by family custom. Tell us your tradition in the first message.
Kumbh Mela and Magh Mela
Kumbh at Prayagraj is one of the world’s largest gatherings. Magh Mela is the annual winter bathing festival. Camps, roads, and snan dates need a local plan.
We help with stay, a snan-day timetable, and transport from Varanasi or the railway station. Book as early as you can. This is not a walk-in city tour.
Suggested itinerary from Varanasi
Same day: morning pickup, Sangam boat, optional ritual, Hanuman Temple, return to Varanasi by evening.
Overnight: Sangam at a quieter hour, rest, optional city sights (Anand Bhavan or Fort when open), return next day.
Add Ayodhya Ram Mandir on a 2–3 day Uttar Pradesh circuit.
For international visitors
The Sangam is a living pilgrimage, not a museum. Expect boats, priests, and pilgrims in the water. Wear clothes you can get wet if you take snan. Carry a change of clothes and a towel. Your coordinator explains safety, where to sit in the boat, and when the ritual starts and ends.
